OK, so I got some details slightly wrong yesterday: the builders don't have to stop work altogether, just stay off the scaffolding. So today they were doing some unpicturesque internal work, like finishing cutting the landing opening (now boarded up) and bringing in the blocks for the upstairs internal walls.
Meanwhile, we went to choose ironmongery for the internal doors as well as sockets and switches. We also returned to the kitchen place after very nearly a year to finalise layout and ask them to come measure. They said they'll do it by the end of the week, which should give our plumbing and electrical programme a shot in the arm.
