It's the plumber, stupid

Item one at this morning's meeting was, unsurprisingly, why things haven't been going as fast as they should. As far as the builders were concerned, this was down to the plumber. The hot water cylinder, or lack of it, was number one obstacle in getting the decoration under way.

Fortunately, immediately after the meeting, the cylinder arrived:

It's a beaut, isn't it? Somewhere over two metres tall and with a 300 litre capacity.

Next door in the ensuite, the shower has been fitted:

Well, sort of. The exterior casing goes on after the tiling.

For their part, the builders drilled the internal doors, since the ironmongery for them arrived on site yesterday. This is the downstairs toilet door:


And more scaffolding has been removed at the back, and it looks like the rendering around the bedroom window has begun.


Whatever way you look at it, there's still loads to do. I don't think anyone expects this to be done on Friday week.
