Brrr-ring

I arrived home yesterday evening and immediately checked the radiators. They were cold. It didn't look like any additional wiring had been done around the hot water tank either. I was on my way here to report another cold evening when I noticed that the phone junction box was like this:

No heat, no Internet. Grrr.

Anyway, it transpired that the gas people had been out and set up the supply, but didn't arrive until 3, not leaving enough time for the plumber to do any actual work.

The kitchen fitters were out to finish the utility room, and there's just one set of handles (far left) to be added:

That can wait until the wardrobe fitting, we reckon.

Finally, the vent for the cooker hood was drilled, but no-one seems willing to fit the hose it requires for ventilation, with everyone claiming it's someone else's job.

We'll guilt someone into doing that early next week.

The plumber was expected back at 10.30 this morning, but it wasn't his van that pulled in at that time. It was the phone company. In fact they sent three vans and five men to replace the main phone line to our house. It was them who had disconnected our line yesterday. In three quarters of an hour the line was fully operational once again.

And the plumber has just arrived. He's not leaving until we have functional central heating.
