The gist of it is two patios at either end, linked to each other, the shed and the side passage by paths, with raised planting beds for vegetables along one garden wall, and some shrubbery at the back. There's room for a few changes to this basic layout, with perhaps more shrubbery or trees along the wall opposite the planters, and some screening for the back patio.
This morning we met him at a nearby house he worked on to look at the sandstone he's proposing for the patios. That seems to be in order, so with the aesthetics more-or-less in place we need to sit down with the cold numbers and figure out what order we're going to do this. The patios, and the one directly outside the house in particular, are the priority. The lawn and shrubbery can wait. We also need to factor in a gate for the side passage, which isn't part of the landscaper's remit.
I'll let you know when we've made a decision.
