Light my fire

Half a day's work and there it is now:

One limestone fireplace, one built-in multifuel stove and behind it a newly lined chimney to minimize the risk of monoxiding the neighbours.

It's surprising how it changes the feel of the room. It feels fuller and more finished now.

That was quick

Stove survey done and installation is scheduled for Friday. It's strange when something that's been procrastinated over for five years is suddenly nearly done in a matter of weeks.

Winter is coming

Finally a bit of movement on one of the long-finger projects: a stove and fireplace for our living room.

Currently it looks like this:

Just a placeholder surround on an empty fireplace beneath a blocked-up chimney.

It only took a couple of weeks to visit a few fireplace shops, learn what we needed to buy, pick out the stove and fireplace we wanted and get quotes for the package. The order went in this afternoon and later this week someone will be round to do a survey.
